Through this comprehensive 9-month program, participants engage in professional development, community engagement, mentorship, and a class-based community project. Upon completing the Leadership Visalia program, participants can expect the following outcomes:
Enhanced Leadership Skills: Participants will develop and refine their leadership abilities through professional development sessions focused on communication strategies, team dynamics, managing with purpose, and time management. They will acquire practical tools and strategies to address their leadership challenges effectively.
In-depth Understanding of Community Issues: Community Leadership Day Sessions will provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of Visalia's challenges and opportunities. They will gain valuable insights into the community's needs and learn how to become part of positive solutions, driving Visalia forward.
Meaningful Connections: Participants will forge powerful connections with mentors, speakers, and fellow participants. The mentorship program will offer guidance and support, allowing participants to navigate their growth effectively. These connections will extend beyond the program, providing a network of professionals from various industries and sectors.
Collaborative Project Experience: Engaging in a class-based community project will enable participants to apply their leadership skills and work collaboratively with other leaders. They will gain valuable experience in team development, communication, and time management, witnessing the transformative impact they can collectively achieve.
Personal and Professional Growth: Evaluation feedback from employers, mentors, and program facilitators will provide participants with a comprehensive assessment of their progress and development. This feedback will serve as a catalyst for continued growth and improvement, both personally and professionally.

How long is the program?
Leadership Visalia is a 9-month program that starts in September and completes in May. Interviews take place in August, Orientation/Retreat in September, and graduation in May.
What is the time commitment?
Participants commit to a series of monthly full-day sessions, 2-hour afternoon sessions, a collaborative Community Impact Service and mentor meetings. Participants have reported spending at least 10-20 hours each month on program activities.

The program is ideal for emerging and established professionals from all industries who want to grow their leadership skills, expand their network, and deepen their understanding of the community.
What will I gain from the program?
You’ll build leadership skills, gain insight into key community issues, connect with local leaders, and develop lasting professional relationships.

2026 Community Class Project
A New Act for Enchanted Playhouse
The Leadership Visalia Class of 2026 selected Enchanted Playhouse Theatre Company (EPTC) as its community project, inspired by the theater’s powerful impact on local youth as a place of belonging and growth.
The class focused on strengthening community connections, building partnerships, and expanding awareness of EPTC’s programs. They also led a marketing refresh—updating materials and providing guidance for a modern website to better showcase performances, auditions, and ticketing. To sustain momentum, the team developed creative outreach ideas, including community events and pop-up performances, designed to grow audiences and inspire new talent.
This project reflects Leadership Visalia’s commitment to work alongside local nonprofits to create sustainable ideas, clear goals, and actionable steps that move our community forward.
