Emerge Application Deadline Exended until January 18, 2019

What is Emerge:  Simply stated, Emerge is "Business 101: How to Start a New Business". The Emerge program was created to help new and future business owners do the careful planning required to minimize the risk of launching a new enterprise. Participants receive hands on experiences as they learn core entrepreneurial/business skills, which will help them take a business idea from the early stages, to a business ready to launch. Participants will write a robust business plan and have the opportunity to pitch their business idea to a panel of potential investors and supporters. Throughout the program participants will meet with industry experts who will provide background, current trends and best practices for various areas of business. Some of the areas featured in this program include: Legal Entities & Business Law,  Human Resources, Business Insurance, Marketing/Branding, Accounting, Taxes, Zoning, Ordinances, Commercial Real Estate, Sales Training and Non-Profit Management.

Ideal Emerge participants are:

1.  Individuals who have a business idea and want to start a brand new business but don’t know where or how to start the process.

2.  Individuals who currently own or operate a small business and want to take the next steps to help their business grow, or want to make sure that they have not missed any critical steps during their start up process.

Time Commitment: The Emerge program is a six month program which meets twice a month on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 - 8:30 pm. Classes will begin January 9th and end on June 19th. Classes will be held at the College of Sequoias Visalia Campus.

Tuition: Tuition for Emerge is $350.00 which includes all program materials, small business resource guide, 12 classes and a business mentor and access to industry experts.

During each Emerge class, participants will work with the instructor on a section of their business plan. Additionally each class will include an industry expert who will speak to the class and provide helpful tools and resources which can be incorporated into the business plan.

*** If individuals would like to attend a single class session the cost is $50.00.
