Is Visalia still the jewel of the valley? I would give an affirmative answer to that question, especially today.

On October 5, the City Council authorized hiring of Dyett and Bahtia as the consultant to prepare a “comprehensive” General Plan amendment to update the “2020 Plan”.  The selection was made with the involvement of a steering committee which included Josh McDonnell of Quad representing the Chamber of Commerce.

The VUSD School Board and staff have spent the past several months studying the district budget in an effort to make the best possible recommendations to meet a cut in state funding of $10M.  The Board declared a fiscal emergency last year and has been holding public budget study sessions to allow for community input and involvement in the budget reduction process.  District staff have been holding meetings at all levels including gathering input from teachers, classified staff, principals, and district administrators.

On the heels of blazing summer heat, the Chamber and Mooney retailers have joined forces to produce an exclusive holiday awareness campaign designed to lure shoppers to spend their money along the city’s core retail strip.  The goal of this campaign is to re-introduce Mooney Boulevard to local and regional shoppers before they look to other communities to spend their holiday dollars.
