Although the jackhammering has not yet begun, the Visalia Chamber of Commerce’s Coffee Klatch Committee has been actively pursuing answers to their questions regarding the upcoming construction of nearly two miles of primarily commercial property on Mooney Boulevard. The Chamber is committed to serving as the voice of business as this project comes to fruition. Designed to assist and educate business owners that may be impacted by the construction as well as to prepare them for what lies ahead, The Coffee Klatch Committee’s June meeting was a huge success. Several Caltrans including representatives, including Senior Transportation Engineer Victor Shaw, Senior Construction Engineer Kevin Reisz, P.E., and Public Affairs Officer Tami Conrado attended the meeting and provided insight regarding the $12 million construction project.
Residents and business owners are encouraged to submit the public interest form directly to Caltrans via fax or e-mail to stay informed on the construction work. This form can also be accessed via the Chamber’s website. Caltrans has provided a toll-free project information hotline (866-740-9230) that will provide construction schedules, updates, lane closures, and commuter alerts. This message will be updated on a weekly or bi-weekly basis and Caltrans will fax or e-mail commuter alerts to individuals based on the information provided on the public interest form.
