Thirty-six middle school students from the Golden State YMCA represented Tulare and Kings Counties at the 9th California YMCA Youth & Government Model United Nations Summit held in Burbank, April 29 – May 2.  The students from our three local delegations – in Visalia, Woodlake and Corcoran – were ambassadors that represented 8 different countries; (Australia, Bahamas, Canada, France, Japan, Kenya, Portugal, and Samoa).

250 graduating seniors from 5 Visalia high schools will be honored as the recipients of lifetime status in the California Scholastic Federation.  This is an amazing feat reached by our future leaders, and the Visalia YMCA is proud to host the luncheon in their honor.

The Golden State YMCA was represented at the recent 62nd Model Legislature/Court by thirty-seven students and six advisors from our four delegations.  Our current delegates – who live in Corcoran, Exeter, Farmersville, Hanford, Lemoore, Visalia, and Woodlake – joined more than 2,200 other high school students in Sacramento for the annual Youth & Government conference when they “took over the capitol” for the five day event.

Sign-up now for YMCA Mini Kicks and Youth Soccer!  Mini Kicks will introduce basic soccer skills to 2 and 3 year olds in a play-like environment.  Youth Soccer, for ages 4-12, is a non-competitive league focusing on demonstration and teamwork.

Jon Hornburg is being honored as Person of the Year by the Visalia YMCA. He was born and raised in Visalia, is employed at Wileman Bros. and Elliott, Inc. and has been a dedicated volunteer and committee member for the YMCA.

The Visalia YMCA builds strong kids, strong families and strong communities.  Our preschool students are doing their part to help save lives by participating in a “Trike-A-Thon” to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
